Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most complicated but well-loved poker variations. It is a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for play from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once irrelevant variation, has grown in popularity so rapidly.

Omaha hi/lo starts exactly like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to each player. A sequence of wagering ensues in which gamblers can wager, check, or fold. Three cards are handed out, this is known as the flop. One more sequence of wagering ensues. Once all the players have in turn called or dropped out, an additional card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of betting follows and then the river card is flipped. The players must attempt to put together the best high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where a number of entrants get baffled. Contrasted to Texas Hold ‘Em, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi/low the player has to utilize precisely 3 cards on the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. No more, no less.
